Regulatory compliance necessary before erection of mobile towers: Pilot

While calling upon the Uttar Pradesh Government to conduct due diligence before considering action on mobile towers, Union Minister of State for Communications and IT Sachin Pilot said the operators should ensure regulatory compliance before erection of towers.

‘Mobile services are now an essential part of our social and financial landscape. However, it is the duty of the operators to ensure regulatory compliance before erection of towers,’ Mr Pilot said after reviewing telecom services in Noida and greater Noida.

Urging the state Government to conduct due diligence of each tower before considering precipitate action, the Minister said, ‘both operators and local and state authorities have to work together to ensure uninterrupted and quality services to the average consumer.’ It is notable that the civic authorities in Noida recently sealed illegal mobile towers, affecting telecom services in the NCR town which falls under Delhi telecom circle.
