The Supreme Court adjourned till March 12 the hearing of the Mayawati government appeal for lifting ban against the construction of Dr B R Ambedkar Park in Noida.

A bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justices S H Kapadia and Aftab Alam ordered the adjournment as the matter could not be taken up for hearing.

The blanket ban on the construction activities in Dr Ambedkar Park, Noida will continue.

The Uttar Pradesh government had approached the Supreme Court for lifting of stay and also for permission to clear the debris from the site.

The apex court had banned the construction activities on the basis of Centrally Empowered Committee (CEC) report which had said that the State government had not taken permission for the construction from the Union Forests and Environment Ministry.
